Systems Design & Installation Portfolio
Malden Catholic High School
We provided a fresh and high tech installation for Malden Catholic High School’s performing arts center. The previous system was limited in lighting and control with only a few rigging points and no catwalk. With an entirely revamped construction, High Output was able to provide high quality lighting, rigging, and audio/video systems for full customization and operation. Electronic Theatre Controls’ ColorSource spots, pars, and cycs offer a broad color spectrum and ultimate brightness.
Pegasystems Inc.
High Output’s task was to expand Pega’s former studio from a single space with no control room to a complex of four spaces. A lot of their video work is made for their annual, 5000-person convention. A new, larger main studio with a control room now serves as the principal multi-camera production space. The former space, now the small studio, is used for cine style work supporting Pega’s 3D compositing pipeline as well as occasional multi-camera productions. Both of these spaces have chroma green curtains installed. The control room also supports another space, the hot set, which is intended for get up and go projects so it’s available at a moment’s notice. Finally, there is a self-service vlog room where anyone can make a high quality web video. This room also doubles as a space for recording voiceovers.
Providence Public Library
Providence Public Library Auditorium is a multi-function space used for lectures, round-table discussions, performances and screenings. The first hurdle was to design the projection system so that the screen could be in focus without resorting to extreme scheimpflug correction. (The screen position is fixed by the proscenium arch.) Along with designing some custom rigging for the projector location, the Barco F80 projector and FLD+ lens were selected for their incredible color reproduction and extended vertical lens offset. Extron DTP wall panels tie lines between the stage and the booth to allow for easy prosumer hookups and direct integration with an Extron video switcher. The audio system comprises a 7.1 surround sound system suitable for film screening while supporting other use cases. Operation of the different audio reproduction modes is highly automated, based on the source input format. This automation allows users to operate the audio system with a simplified control panel. A Dante audio network and Attero Tech I/O panels suited to the Library’s needs were installed, maintaining the ability to easily expand the I/O when required. Fulcrum Acoustic speakers were chosen for their pattern control, precise imaging, consistent voicing and great price/performance ratio. Extron control panels in the booth and backstage enable control of the system, video input selection, microphone and audio source levels and mutes. All Extron and Symetrix programming was performed by High Output.
