The Presentation System Installation

Lockheed Martin Corporation uses field offices to conduct business and liaison with regional military customers and business partners. The corporation decided to upgrade their New England field office's presentation capabilities for briefings with US defense department, joint coalition forces and contractors engaged in "C4 ISR" (Command and Control, Communications, Computers Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance).

Senior Manager Steve Negron contacted David Bonner - Senior Design Engineer after experiencing a Bonner designed Boeing facility. Soon afterward Bontronics won the job and the design phase was underway.

The Challenge

"Be the world's best advanced technology systems integrator". Steve Negron utilized Lockheed Martin's very own corporate vision to inspire the project's requirements definition. As examples:

  • the aesthetics and components be sufficient quality to support the image of a first class operation
  • the facility must handle and integrate an array of inputs: computer SVGA, XVGA, CD, DVD, satellite TV, or video teleconferencing
  • the facility needed to be easily understood by visitors without hand-holding from busy office staff
"We're very, very satisfied with the way the installation is functioning.
It's become the model presentation facility for the other field offices."

Steve Negron - Senior Manager, Lockheed Martin

Our Solution

As presentation systems become more complex, component integration and automated control are increasing crucial. Bontronics devised a single command scheme interfacing all Lockheed's com/data connectivity and display choices - a "brain" that intelligently links every source and viewing option.

The facility user simply selects the appropriate scenario from a series of programmed presets. The system is smart enough to automatically power-up the chosen projector or display and connect to the selected source. The approach permits operation by a wide variety of guests with minimal support.

The Outcome

With its distinguished appearance and smooth operation the New England briefing room is being emulated at other offices, reports Steve Negron. "We now have a first-rate presentation facility to support our business activities and promote the Lockheed Martin name. I can't imagine anyone doing a better job for Lockheed Martin than Bontronics."

"Bontronics was committed to our complete satisfaction well after the installation.
That was a huge selling point for us and why we've recommended them to others."
