Custom Design & Installation @ Haemonetics

The Remote Collaboration System Installation

Our custom design and install team was recently chosen to create a state-of-the-art remote conferencing facility. Haemonetics is the world's leading supplier of automated blood processing systems for surgical and pharmaceutical uses. Their continued success depends greatly on collaborative communications between their Boston area headquarters and offices in Switzerland, Tokyo and Sydney.

The Challenge

The company determined to increase world-wide presentation capabilities and reduce time and expense for customer training. The essential requirements were:

  • route multiple image and audio sources to in-room audiences of varying sizes
  • simultaneously enable clear 2-way communications with remote offices and major customers
  • integrate WebExT and NetMeetingT applications
  • upgrade display and sound systems in all satellite conference rooms and unite with the main facility
"Bontronics designed a collaborative communications system that's sophisticated,
yet easy to operate. Now our users focus on content, not working the electronics."

Our Solution

Clearly, new ways were needed to reliably manage quality voice, data and image traffic. Bontronics conceived an innovative solution set enabling any presenter, employee or visitor, to reliably address local and remote audiences. The design accommodated a range of content sources, in-room display modes, with voice and data links to the outside world.

An intuitive touch-screen control station makes it easy for even first-time users to run the system. The presenter simply routes from any source (computers running PowerPoint, WebEx, along with DVD's and VCR's) to the desired flat panel displays and projectors. The LCD projection units are neatly hidden in ceiling until selected, then lower into position automatically. Electronics are housed behind handsome wall-to-wall custom wood cabinetry.

The Outcome

The US headquarters conferencing center is an unqualified success technically and aesthetically. Boston personnel now communicate effortlessly with their global counterparts: Swiss technologists, Tokyo business partners or medical center staff in California.

Training customers is particularly vital when making products that handle human blood, yet travel costs and employee down-time were constant concerns. Now, staff trainers tie into a hospital, conduct a session and simply return to their desk. The client reports: "we've streamlined a critical business requirement and saved big on air travel and related expenses."

"Accelerating communication processes and reducing costs - that's the motivation behind this facility. We thank Bontronics for their innovative design and continued support."
